9 Months

This month was so busy and a lot of fun. She started the month out by having fun in the snow with Daddy. She loves when he pulls her around the yard on her sled.
She also had a playdate with her friend Nicholas. Nicholas loved watching Sophia move around the room and Sophia found him to be just as interesting.
Sophia also welcomed a new friend to the world. Jake Robert Martel was born this month. Sophia hasn’t met him yet since he is still little, but when she does I know they will have a special bond.

For Valentine’s Day Sophia’s school put on a breakfast for all the families at the center. This was Daddy’s special time with Sophia, so he took her to the breakfast. He got to meet all her friends at school and some of the teachers that work earlier in the day. Daddy and Sophia had a great time and have decided that Valentine’s Day will be there special day, since Daddy and I have our Anniversary. I guess I can share!

Sophia attended her Auntie Teri-Ann’s wedding this month. She had a blast!

She spent most of the day with Daddy.

Her church skills and indoor voice can use some work, but for the most part she was a good girl in the church. At the reception Sophia was the center of attention when Auntie was fulfilling her duties as bride. At one point Sophia found her way into the middle of a “dance circle.” At first she just sat there until people started clapping for her. Then she hammed it up… clapping back, smiling, and bouncing to the music. She got her first real slow dance with Daddy outside of her bedroom. She was a good girl all night.

The biggest news of this month is that Sophia is walking. Crawling is still her favored method of movement, but when she is not in a rush or wants something that is eye level she walks. Mike and I never expected her to walk so soon, but nothing with Sophia surprises us anymore.
Along with walking she now says, “Mama, Dada, Nana, NO, Baba, Hi, Bye, Huh?” and some say they have even heard “Don.” She points to things she wants and has begun to use the signs for more and finished consistently. She also has begun to throw temper tantrums when she doesn’t get what she wants or is told “no.” She even got her first “time out” this month at school for not listening. She may look like her father…but she has my temper and persistence.

The last big thing we did this month was start our Gymboree class. Sophia LOVED it! She didn’t stop moving the entire time we were there. Daddy and I went together and had a hard time keeping up with her. She is a bundle of non-stop energy. She loved being around all the kids and made friends with everyone there. People were amazed at how animated she was for only 9 months. She is an entertainer!

This month has been wonderful. Mike and I are enjoying every moment we can with her. We have begun to think about her 1st birthday party and it makes me a little sad. OK a lot of sad. Though I love watching her grow and develop, it makes me a sad to think about how fast she is growing and how the moments that I couldn’t wait for with her have become memories…beautiful memories.

Have a great month!
