My water broke 6:02am on May 8th. Mike and I went straight to the hospital and was admitted. I wasn't at all showing signs of preparing for her to be born, so I was given 2 rounds of cervadil (during the day on Tuesday and through the night).
At around 4:00am on the 9th Sophia's heart rate started to drop so the doctor had the cervadil pulled and started Pitocin, so I could deliver her sooner. At 11:30 am I was 3cm dilated and 80% affaced. At 12:40 pm I called the doctor in because she was coming with force.
Sophia was born at 1:21pm. Due to the long labor and quick delivery she did have some breathing difficulty and was rushed to the special care nursery. At this point, her breathing is great, her heart rate is stable, and she is regulating her own body temperature. She has completed her 48 hours of antibiotics and we are waiting word from the pedi that she is clear of infections.
At this point Sophia, Mike and I will remain in the hospital for a few more days. Due to the ordeal that she has been through over the last couple days, she has to be taught to eat. Babies that don't feed the first 24 hours after birth need to be taught this skill. She is doing great and now that she is off the antibiotics she should be more interested in eating. The quicker she gains weight the faster she can come home. We will update you as soon as we know more.
