Happy Birthday Sophia!
Sorry it took so long for me to post pictures and journal, but I wanted to get all the pictures back from Sophia’s 1st Birthday before I sent this out to all of you. We had a great 11th month.

We had a blast this April vacation! I made sure not to book anything so that Sophia and I could enjoy being around the house and just having fun.

On May 9 Sophia turned one. Can you believe it?! It was a three day event! She went to school on her birthday in her birthday princess outfit. She was spoiled more than usual.
We went to the Boston Aquarium and Sophia loved it. The aquarium was very busy that weekend, but Sophia didn’t mind all the people.
Her favorite place in the aquarium was the jelly fish exhibit and the seals in the outside tank. She spent a long time watching the giant turtles in the middle tank along with the sharks.
We will definitely go there again on a family trip. After the aquarium we took Sophia by the beach. This was her first time on the beach and she loved it.
At first she wasn’t happy about the texture of the sand on her hands, but she got used to it quick. She had a hard time walking so she depended on Daddy whenever she tried to walk. It was a great day!

We took full advantage of the beautiful weather. We tried to get outside everyday and play. We went to the park and Sophia rode on a swing for the first time.
We found a park by Daddy’s work, so Daddy got out early and met us there. We also played in the water table outside a few days.
We went for walks and had playdates with Jake, Nicholas, and new baby Tommy. It was a lot of fun. It made me crave summer. I can’t wait!

That night after dinner, the crazy lady from over the fence and Jack came over to visit the Birthday Girl! Then Daddy and I took her to Build-a-Bear to make her first birthday bear.

She is doing great eating. She now eats rice pasta and loves it. We also reintroduced chicken and carrots and has not has any problems with them. We introduced tomatoes yesterday and she loves them. We are working towards making her a tomato sauce she can eat. We had her physical yesterday and the doctor is pleased with the progress she has made and was shocked she almost quadrupled her weight since birth.
Now that Sophia is one and summer is almost here, I am going to be updating her sight a little less often. I promise to keep sending pictures and you up-to-date on all that is new, but with a toddler once a month has gotten to be a little tricky. I have enjoyed sharing the first year of Sophia’s life with all of you and look forwards to sharing many more. Have a great May!
She had a great time!
On Saturday, she had her birthday party with most of her friends (Jake was with his Grammy so he couldn’t come.) We celebrated at Sophia’s favorite place GYMBOREE. All the kids had a blast. On Sunday, we had a Mother’s Day Celebration/Sophia’s Birthday Party with my family.

This was a very special day for me and Sophia because last year we were still in the hospital in the Special Care Nursery. It was a wonderful day for a cookout and a beautiful day to celebrate. By the end of the weekend Sophia was still ready to party and Mike and I wanted to sleep!
Developmentally, Sophia has taken off with talking. On top of the words she was been saying for that last few months, she now saying, “car, Don, NO NO (with her finger pointed at the person), where’s Dada (with her hand out to the side), shhhh (with her finger over her mouth, out, bye-bye, OK, ya and says muw (when she blows kisses).” She is taking off with her sign language too. She can show you where her ear, nose, belly, and toes are. She can tell you what a bird and cow say. She is using objects the way they are supposed to be used. For example, she brushed her hair with the brush, tries to put her socks and shoes on her feet, tries to cut her own nails when she gets the clippers out of her grooming kit, and uses a spoon when eating. She has begun running around instead of walking. She got a doll carriage for her birthday and pushes it around the house.
