Apple Picking 2010

Like every September we went apple picking at a farm by our home and like every year Sophia ended the event with a temperature and ear infections. We didn’t know she was not feeling well until 6:30 that night when her temp was over 102.5! Mike and I thought that she just didn’t like apple picking.

Usually, we wait for a cool September day and we drive to the apple field, pick, get in the car and come home. This year our tradition was expanded to the petting zoo, play area and hay ride due to beaver dams washing out the street to the apple fields. Oh and it was close to 80 degrees that day.

Sophia loved climbing on all the wooden structures and riding on the tire swings that looked like horses.

They hayride was a nice addition to the day and allowed me to get some pictures of my princess. At one point on the hayride I looked at her leaning against the wagon and couldn’t believe how grown up she has become.

We had arrived at the apple fields and Sophia decided that apple picking was not where she wanted to be. She picked a few apples before telling Mike and I that she wanted to go home. I told her that we needed the apples to make the apple pies and she responded back, “there is a Market Basket on this street. We can get them there.” It was at that point Mike and I quickly picked for all 3 of us and we left for home. Luckily, I got a few pictures of her picking before she decided she was done.

Next year we will check for illness BEFORE heading out to apple pick!
